3. Create a datasource

To add a datasource, go to Data section and click on “Add datasource”.

All datasources support the following data types:

  • Text
  • Integer
  • Decimal
  • Image
  • Date
  • Datetime
  • Location
  • Boolean

a. Buildup Cloud

Cloud datasources store your data in Buildup. This means that your app needs to be connected to Internet to get access.

  • To add a Buildup Cloud datasource, click on New Datasource and select Cloud.
  • Click on “Edit Columns” to define your schema.
  • Manage your data using the data table or import them form a .csv file

Buildup Cloud datasource ares limited to 100 records.

b. Local

Local datasources store your data in the mobile device. This means that your app doesn’t need to be connected to Internet to get access.
You can define your own schema using the “Edit Columns” button.

  • To add a Buildup Cloud datasource, click on New Datasource and select Local.
  • Click on “Edit Columns” to define your schema.
  • Manage your data using the data table or import them form a .csv file

Local datasource are limited to 100 records.

c. Cloudant

Cloudant datasources load data from a Cloudant database.

  • To add a datasource, click on New Datasource and select Cloudant.
  • Configure your Cloudant connection. You will need: Database API Url, Username and Password.
  • Click on “Edit Columns” to adjust your schema. Adding or removing columns option is not available.

Data can’t be managed from Buildup

d. SAP HANA

SAP HANA datasources load data from a SAP HANA database.

  • To add a datasource, click on New Datasource and select SAP HANA.
  • Configure your SAP HANA connection. You will need: Database API Url, Username, Password and Resource.
  • Click on “Edit Columns” to adjust your schema. Adding or removing columns option is not available.

Data can’t be managed from Buildup.

d. Excel Online

Excel Online datasources load data from a Excel Online Sheet.

  • To add a datasource, click on New Datasource and select Excel Online.
  • Sign in to your Office365 account to link one of your spreadsheets.
  • Select your spreadsheet.
  • Select your worksheet.
  • Select the table origin cell.
  • Indicate if the table has headers.
  • Click on “Edit Columns” to adjust your schema. Adding or removing columns option is not available.

Data can’t be managed from Buildup.

e. Google Spreadsheet

Google Spreadsheet datasources load data from Google Online Sheet.

  • To add a datasource, click on New Datasource and select Google Spreadsheet.
  • Sign in to your Google account to link one of your spreadsheets.
  • Select your spreadsheet.
  • Select your worksheet.
  • Indicate if the table has a header.
  • Click on “Edit Columns” to adjust your schema. Adding or removing columns option is not available.

Data can’t be managed from Buildup.

f. Google drive

Google drive datasources load data from Google Drive.

  • To add a datasource, click on New Datasource and select Google Drive.
  • Sign in to your Google account to link one of your spreadsheets.
  • Select the root folder.
  • Enable “include subfolders” option if you want to share the files in the subfolders.
  • Datasource shows the following data of your files: Title, Author, Last modification date and url to download the file.
  • Click on “Edit Columns” to change column’s names if needed your schema. Adding or removing columns option is not available.

Data can’t be managed from Buildup.
